PROBLEM DEFINITION A leading food manufacturing firm from Switzerland wanted to expand their business in Arabic markets. For this expansion as well as a successful reception in the Arabic markets, the company intended to spread the word by using different modes of advertising such as brochures, pamphlets, and digital media. The company had their advertisements and brochures ready in Spanish. Since there were no professionals available to translate the content from Spanish to Arabic directly; they got the content first translated from Spanish to English and then from English to Arabic. But the problem with such conversion was that some words were translated incorrectly changing the entire meaning and effectiveness of the advertisement. Therefore, the company required an experienced multilingual company well versed in both Spanish and Arabic to directly translate the documents from one language to another in a single step. Also, it was paramount that the conversion follows without losing the essence of the content. Translating the documents and advertisements from Spanish to Arabic without a common intermediate language such as English was a challenging task. We employed our best multilingual translators efficient in both languages to create the first draft of the translation.
