PROBLEM DEFINITION The client, a Ph.D. scholar from the USA, approached our transcription service with a substantial project: transcribing over 20 hours of audio recordings. The recordings were crucial for their research, covering interviews, seminars, and academic discussions. Given the academic nature of the content, accuracy and clarity were paramount. Additionally, the client emphasized a quick turnaround time of approximately 7 days due to impending project deadlines. One of the primary challenges of this project was the quality of the audio recordings. Many of the parts of the audio were muffled or contained background noise, which could potentially affect the accuracy of the transcription. It was ensured that the final transcript was of high quality despite these audio issues was crucial to meeting the client’s expectations. The first step involved cleaning the audio recordings to improve clarity. Our team used advanced audio processing tools to reduce background noise, enhance speech clarity, and mitigate the effects of muffled sound. Once the audio quality was optimized, our experienced transcribers began the transcription process. Given the academic context, we assigned the task to transcribers with relevant subject matter expertise to ensure accuracy in technical terminology and context. Quality assurance was a critical step in this project. After the initial transcription was completed, each transcript underwent a rigorous review process. Experienced proofreaders and editors double-checked the transcripts against the original audio to ensure accuracy, achieving a high-quality standard of around 98%.
